Blackburn & Kinellar Community Council
The Blackburn and Kinellar Community Council is a small voluntary organisation, re-established in November 2024 by statute by Aberdeenshire Council. It is run by members of the local community to act on the area’s behalf. Our ambition is to support a wide range of activities which promote the well-being of the community, and we would love to hear from you.
Blackburn and Kinellar Community Council’s meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at Kinellar Community Centre, at 7.45 pm. The dates of the meetings until the summer break are 14 January, 11 February, 11 March, 8 April, 13 May, 10 June, and 8 July 2026. We warmly encourage you to attend and share your views or simply learn more about what we’re doing. Copies of the minutes from previous meetings are available below.
We hope to see you at one of our upcoming meetings as we work together to address local issues and make a positive impact. I have lived in Blackburn for 44 years at my present address which was a new build at that time. I have stood previously on the Hall Committee and the Community Council. My Commitment to Blackburn is to see a pleasant neighbourhood and for all to share in the benefits of a vibrant community.

Originally from Inverness, I moved to Blackburn in 2017 and fell in love with the village and its surroundings. I have been a volunteer helping to create and deliver the Blackie Banter newsletters for the past few years and am looking forward to getting involved in new community projects. I have work experience in research & project management & in my spare time, I love to travel.

I've lived in Blackburn since 1993 and have previous experience from sitting on the former Fintray and Kinellar Community Council. I'm married with three grown up children. Born and brought up in Nottingham, I flew for British Airways from 1971 until 2004. For part of this time, 1986 until 1991, I was based in Aberdeen.

I'm retired and have lived in Blackburn for 43 years. I've been involved with various football teams in the village over the years and also help with the Christmas lights.

We built our house in Blackburn and moved in 1977.
I am a retired qualified Chartered Civil Engineer. Gained work experience with Local Authorities, Construction Contractors and Consulting Engineers, both in the UK and overseas. Lately I ran a successful Consulting Engineers Practice in Blackburn.
