Why Buying Tickets in Advance Really Matters (Especially for Small Charities Like Ours!)

Updated: Oct 8

We get it—life is busy, plans change, and sometimes it’s tempting to wait until the last minute before committing to an event. But when it comes to events run by small charities like the Kinellar Community Centre, buying your tickets in advance makes a huge difference—and we’d love to tell you why.

1. It Helps Us Plan (Without the Guesswork)

When we know how many people are coming, we can plan better. Sounds simple, but it's so important! From how many chairs we set out, to how much cake we bake or how many crafts we prep for the kids—we need some solid numbers to work with.

It also helps with volunteer planning. If we’re expecting 20 people and suddenly 80 show up on the day, that’s amazing—but it also means we might not have enough volunteers to make sure everyone has a great experience.

2. It Keeps Us on Budget

Unlike big commercial venues, Kinellar Community Centre is a small charity. Every pound counts. When you buy your ticket early, you help us budget properly:

  • How much food should we buy?

  • Can we afford a live performer or workshop leader?

  • Should we rent extra equipment?

Knowing how many people are coming helps us avoid overspending—or worse, under-preparing. No one wants to run out of tea and biscuits halfway through!

3. More People = More Value for Everyone

Here's the magic bit: the more tickets we sell in advance, the more value we can add to the event. It’s a lovely domino effect. More people means:

  • We can invest in better materials, entertainment or facilities

  • We can offer lower ticket prices in the future

  • We can put more money back into the community

And don’t worry—we’re not making a profit. Every penny we raise goes straight back into running the centre, improving the facilities, and hosting more events for the local community.

4. It Shows Your Support (And That Means Everything)

When you buy a ticket early, you’re not just signing up for an event—you’re sending a message that you value what we’re doing. It gives our team (most of whom are volunteers!) a massive boost to know the community is behind them.

So next time you see an event pop up at Kinellar Community Centre, don’t wait until the week before—grab your tickets early! It might seem like a small act, but to us, it’s a game-changer.
